especia

The Smart Biogeoinformatic
platform

ABOUT

eSpecia, provide a strong foundation to accessing, storing and managing biodiversity data empire. This centralized database offers long-term archiving, reporting and its data serve as input parameters for the scientific researches, modeling system and GIS applications.
eSpecia is based on open architecture, scalable system configuration and multi-platform support and is user configurable. In addition to combining data from different sources and diverse monitoring platforms,It leverages technology by presenting comprehensive information to enable better decision-making on environmental issues highlighting the social, ecological and economic implications.
eSpecia will be an outstanding tool for scientists, natural resource managers, and policy-makers. eSpecia provides several data entry features for wildlife recording on terrestrial as well as marine landscapes. In terrestrial landscape, five major taxonomic groups' plants, mammals, reptiles, arthropods (insects) and birds'from the terrestrial flora and fauna have been recognised on which observations can be recorded. Observations based on both direct encounters and indirect evidences such as droppings, footprints, etc. can be entered into the eSpecia portal. In marine, six major taxonomic groups 'plankton, benthos, fishes, marine plants, seabirds, and megafauna' observations can be recorded. It can also maintain the seasonal data collection processes.
The centralized geographically referenced data base system serves to access the data from fields including biologically significant or important species, habitats end ecosystems. eSpecia enables field data capture using mobile devices as well as links to an archival database to permit analysis and output results in desired formats.Based on open GIS platform, it allows input from diverse data sources and integration. eSpecia ensures data are accurate, complete, authentic and reliable with minimal mistakes and typos. It is a time saver - as it increases the research efficiency by minimising the time taken in data organisation and summarization. eSpecia is innovative. It replaces paper reports and graphs with a database housing all uptodate data linked to archived secondary data with its library system.
